Medals that the Corporation of Brooklyn had struck for the veterans of the Army and the Navy from Brooklyn and Long Island were presented in a large and impressive ceremony held at Fort Greene in Washington Park, present-day Fort Greene Park.  Around three thousand men received the silver decoration.  In attendance were Mayor Booth, Governor R.E.Fenton, and Admiral Faragut.  (By John Osborne)
