NEW LONDON COUNTY, situated at the southeast corner of Connecticut, and traversed by Thames river, with the Connecticut on the west. Area, 600 square miles. Face of the country, hilly; soil, productive. Seats of justice, Norwich and New London. Pop. in 1810, 34,707; in 1820, 35,943; in 1830, 42,295; in 1840, 44,463; in 1850, 51,822.
